Sealed, circular connector handles diverse Ethernet applications

Tyco Electronics has introduced a sealed RJ-45 circular connector series suitable for industrial Ethernet applications. In addition to meeting the Ethernet/IP RJ-45 requirements and standards, the connectors are able to withstand extreme conditions often encountered in various operating environments. This circular Ethernet connector series is suitable for diagnostic equipment in the medical and instrumentation fields, communications equipment, printers and in any Ethernet application where the connector requirements calls for ruggedization and sealing.

Among the features of the industrial circular Ethernet connector is a quick-connect, bayonet-coupling mechanism per the ODVA interoperability interface specification. The connector provides sealing protection to IP 67 and is for Category 5e cables. Electrical performance is in accordance with TIA/EIA-568, Category 5e link requirements. Versions for stranded and solid wire are available. Mechanical attributes include a positive-lock coupling ring and polarization for proper mating between connector halves.

Mounting configurations include pass-through and field-installable receptacle styles. Furthermore, bulkhead receptacles mount on either the inside or outside of the panel cutout. Protective receptacle covers are available and the product is RoHS compliant. Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) requires all manufacturers of electronic and electrical equipment sold in Europe to comply by July 2006.
