Contracts awarded for F-35 aircraft ordnance hoist and quick-latch systems
Curtiss Wright Controls Inc. has received contracts from Lockheed Martin Corporation for the Joint Strike Fighter F-35 program with an initial value of $2.2 million and a potential value of $120 million to supply ordnance hoist and quick-latch systems for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).
The F-35 JSF will be delivered to the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps--as well as the United Kingdom's Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. This aircraft has been designed to satisfy the diverse needs of each of these services for a family of affordable, lethal and survivable combat aircraft.
The equipment to be provided is a new requirement designated as Alternate Mission Equipment for ordnance loading, carrying and unloading on all three F-35 aircraft variants (CTOL, STOVL and CV). Hardware deliveries are anticipated to occur from 2006 through to 2010. With headquarters in Charlotte, NC, Curtiss-Wright Controls is the motion control segment of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. The design, development and manufacturing of these ordnance systems will take place at the Curtiss-Wright facilities in Gastonia and Shelby, NC.
