Delphi Deploys Microtune Tuner In Automotive TV Receiver Systems

Delphi will deploy Microtune’s MT2067 tuner in the TV receiver system of its factory-installed front-seat and rear-seat entertainment systems targeted for Europe and Japan. According to Microtune, the MT2067 is the industry’s first analog-digital tuner chip developed specifically for in-car digital television. It operates from 44 to 862 MHz and supports global TV receiver platforms like NTSC, PAL, SECAM, DVB-T, DVB-H, ISDB-T, ATSC, and ATSC-M/H.

The MT2067’s advanced dual-conversion architecture eliminates the need for external tracking filters via an integrated pre-selection filter at the RF input, low in-band emissions, and outstanding image rejection. Also, Microtune says that the tuner’s high level of integration keeps the total bill of materials (BOM) low. With its programmable buffered reference frequency output, the crystal can be shared with the demodulator or another MT2067 to support multi-tuner diversity receivers.

Furthermore, the MT2067’s spur-avoidance technology enables high performance in multi-tuner architectures by preventing interference between the tuners. The integrated low-noise amplifier (LNA) ensures excellent system sensitivity, Microtune says, while its architecture enables an automatic gain control (AGC) range of more than 100 dB. Microtune’s patented ClearTune filter technology limits interference from strong undesired channels.

Designed for automotive temperature ranges of –40°C to 85°C, the MT2067 is qualified in accordance with AEC-Q100. It operates from a 3.3-V power supply and comes in a 48-pin, 7- by 7-mm, quad flat no-lead (QFN) package. In production now, it costs $7.50 each in lots of 10,000.
