Expected developments for the WiMAX market in 2006

Research and Markets has announced the addition of Worldwide WiMAX Market Development in 2006 to its offering. By 2010, annual global WiMAX equipment shipment value is expected to reach U.S. $4 to U.S. $5 billion. WiMAX will account for between one-third and one-half of all wireless broadband subscribers worldwide.

With the finalization of the WiMAX 802.16e standard, different kinds of operators all over the world are beginning to focus on the opportunities presented by the WiMAX market. WiMAX is already starting to take off in Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Different countries and regions have adopted different policies with regard to WiMAX; the overall telecommunications market environment also varies from country to country.
