High-linearity T/R switch and mixer devices cover dc to 6 GHz

Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced a GaAs T/R switch and a high IP3 GaAs MMIC mixer for WiMAX, fixed-wireless, cellular/3G, and test and measurement applications from dc to 6 GHz.

The HMC536MS8G is a positive-control, MMIC T/R switch in an eight-lead MSOP8G SMT package with an exposed ground paddle. This switch is ideal for WiMAX and fixed, wireless applications, featuring low 0.5 dB insertion loss and high 26 dB isolation. Power handling is excellent up through 6 GHz with a P1dB compression point of +37 dBm, and +52 dBm input IP3. For the HMC536MS8G, switching speed is 30 nS and it operates with either 0/+3 V or 0/+5 V control logic.

The HMC214MS8 is a high-IP3 GaAs MMIC mixer in an eight-lead, MSOP SMT package and covers 2.4 GHz to 4.0 GHz. Excellent input IP3 performance of +34 dBm for downconversion, and +31 dBm for upconversion is provided for WiMAX and other 3.5 GHz fixed-wireless applications.

The HMC214MS8 offers a wide IF bandwidth of dc to 1 GHz and high LO-to-IF and LO-to-RF isolation of 25 dB to 30 dB, while requiring no external matching components nor dc bias. Restriction on the use of certain hazardous substance (RoHS) compliant versions of these products are the HMC536MS8GE and the HMC214MS8E. Samples and evaluation PC boards are available from stock and can be ordered on line.
