Caribou Coffee has announced that it will offer free Wi-Fi service for its customers across the United States. Through a partnership with Wandering WiFi, Caribou Coffee is the first in the coffee industry and the largest company-owned retailer to offer a free Wi-Fi service using the latest security technology.

By September, Caribou Coffee customers will have access to the Caribou Coffee sponsored Wi-Fi service at participating locations. Stores in Omaha, Nebraska, served as the test market for the initiative that will extend to all Caribou Coffee stores where fast-access Internet service is available. Caribou Coffee designed its Wi-Fi program to accompany the needs of the vast majority of its customers, who average less than an hour per user session.

Caribou Coffee CEO Michael J. Coles said, "Caribou Coffee is proud to offer our customers Wi-Fi service with the most innovative security offerings as a way to provide an excellent experience to our customers who visit our stores. Many of our customers integrate technology into their mobile lifestyle and by providing the Wi-Fi service at Caribou, our customers can enjoy an added convenience for both business and leisure purposes."

Customers will have access to free Wi-Fi during the first hour, and then will be asked to make a minimum $1.50 store purchase, about the price of a small cup of Caribou coffee, for each additional hour to receive a Wi-Fi access code. Connecting to the Wi-Fi service will deepen the customer's relationship with Caribou Coffee by using a Caribou Coffee-branded network page where customers can register and opt-in to receive coupons and premium items from Caribou Coffee.
