RF front-end reference design eases multi-tuner solutions

Anadigics Inc. has readied RF front-end reference designs for multi-tuner applications, such as televisions, set-top boxes and digital video recorders (DVRs)/personal video recorders (PVRs). It incorporates the company’s integrated tuners and active splitters on the same printed circuit board (PCB) to provide complete RF front-end solutions that enable manufacturers to develop products that maximize use of available bandwidth to provide video and high data throughput. Complete evaluation kits that include easy-to-use software enable manufacturers to quickly develop new products, while minimizing RF design resources.

“With the explosive growth of HDTV, video on demand, digital recording, data services, and DVRs/PVRs, Anadigics is expanding its market reach. The reference designs incorporate its integrated IC tuners and splitters, as well as its expertise in RF design, to help manufacturers accelerate time-to-market,” said Ron Michels, senior vice president and general manager of broadband products at Anadigics.

The reference designs are optimized to provide maximum signal integrity, with low noise figures as well as low composite triple beat (CTB) and composite second-order (CSO) distortion products. Reference design boards use integrated tuners such as the AIT1010 and AIT1021, active splitters such as the APS3604, IF filters, and a reverse path diplexer.
