Fujitsu and partner ready Linux-based WiMAX SoC reference design kit
In addition to shipping its 5.8 GHz WiMAX baseband system-on-a-chip (SoC) to ODM partners and customers worldwide, which include Texas Instruments, ORZA Networks and Sun Create Electronics Co., Ltd., Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA), and its German partner Hopling Technologies have also jointly readied Linux-based WiMAX baseband SoC reference kits for ODMs. The reference kit, which includes a reference board using the highly integrated MB87M3550 WiMAX SoC, software package and operating manual, will be available from Fujitsu this quarter.
"This reference kit very effectively leverages Hopling Technologies' software and Fujitsu's SoC," stated Manfred Mettendorff, U.S.-based senior marketing manager for Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe. "Fujitsu is the first company to address the growing need for embedding WiMAX baseband SoC into our customers’ Linux-based wireless equipment."
