Fujitsu Network Communications adds Airspan AS.MAX to portfolio
Fujitsu Network Communications has announced the availability of a new WiMAX solution for North American service providers. This end-to-end, turnkey solution combines carrier-class WiMAX products from Airspan Networks and Network Life Cycle Services from Fujitsu to create a unique broadband wireless solution. Fujitsu and Airspan are founding and current board members of the WiMAX Forum. This is the first system-level agreement between two founding board members.
Under the terms of a new agreement with Airspan Networks, Fujitsu has obtained the rights to resell their entire portfolio of WiMAX AS.MAX broadband access products in North America. Fujitsu will offer large- and small-scale base station solutions as well as indoor, outdoor and Wi-Fi-enabled customer premises equipment (CPE).
The AS.MAX products support the cost-effective rollout of WiMAX networks, delivering comprehensive support for a range of end-user devices that integrate WiMAX and Wi-Fi technologies. The Fujitsu-offered AS.MAX solution also incorporates advanced network features that make it possible to deliver carrier-class quality voice over IP (VoIP) services, including integrated session initiation protocol (SIP) gateway messaging to enable call control and capacity reservation for voice traffic. Voice capacity is not reserved until requested, and can be dynamically adjusted while maintaining quality of service (QoS), thus enabling the optimal use of radio link capacity while offering an ideal consumer experience.
Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services are an integral part of the network solution. These services are available to help carriers create and extend their WiMAX footprint by using planning services such as RF engineering, site acquisition and site preparation. When carriers are ready to build their network, Fujitsu offers a full line of deployment services, which include installation and test/turn-up services, as well as backhaul and back-office connectivity provisioning.
