New high-speed digital logic product line supports data rates to 13 Gb/s

Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced a new product line of high-speed digital logic devices operating at data rates up to 13 Gb/s. These devices are designed for a wide range of applications requiring ultra low jitter and very low DC power including high-speed communications, optical systems, radar signal processing and broadband test and measurement equipment.

The HMC670LC3C is a 1:2 fanout buffer designed to support data transmission rates up to 13 Gb/s, and clock rates up to 13 GHz. All differential inputs and outputs are DC coupled and are terminated on chip with 50-Ohm resistors to ground. The outputs may be used in either singe-ended or differential modes, and propagation delay is typically 55 picoseconds. With typical rise and fall times of 24/22 picoseconds and 2 picoseconds of jitter, the HMC670LC3C dissipates only 240 mW.

The HMC671LC3C is a XOR/XNOR gate function that supports data transmission rates up to 13 Gb/s, and clock frequencies up to 13 GHz. The differential inputs to the HMC671LC3C are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground on chip, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled and the device exhibits a propagation delay of 60 picoseconds. The HMC671LC3C exhibits typical rise and fall times of 24/22 picoseconds, and 2 picoseconds of jitter while dissipating only 180 mW.

The HMC672LC3C supports data transmission rates up to 13 Gb/s, clock frequencies up to 13 GHz and may be configured to provide AND, NAND, OR or NOR logic functions. There is also a D-Type Flip Flop designed to support data transmission rates up to 13 Gb/s and clock rates up to 13 GHz.

The devices also feature an output level control pin that enables signal level optimization by allowing the output voltage swing to be adjusted between 0.4 V and 1.1V. These logic devices operate from a single -3.3V DC supply and are housed in ceramic 3-mm square SMT packages.

Hittite Microwave Corporation is a designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal ICs, modules and subsystems for RF, microwave and millimeterwave applications covering DC to 110 GHz.
