Britain and Italy to acquire MRAPs

Force Protection Industries, Inc., Ladson, S.C., has been awarded a $115-million contract modification under a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract to acquire 174 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and associated test sets, spares and support services. This award consummates a requirement under a Foreign Military Sales order with the United Kingdom, Ministry of Defense. Work is expected to be completed in July 2009.

In addition, Force Protection Industries, has been awarded an $8-million modification under a previously awarded contract to acquire 10 MRAP vehicles and associated support services and parts for the Italian Ministry of Defense under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work is expected to be completed in June 2009.

The Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va. is the contracting agency for both programs. The work will be performed in Ladson, S.C.
