Sylantro Systems Corp. has announced that its Synergy application feature server has passed user acceptance and will now be a part of Korea Telecom’s WiBro (wireless broadband) network, scheduled to deploy early in the second quarter of 2007. Korea Telecom (KT) will offer an integrated Microsoft hosted messaging and collaboration (HMC) solution with the Sylantro synergy application feature server operated on an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) platform by Samsung Electronics.

KT, the largest incumbent carrier in Korea, will commercially launch the WiBro system in Seoul and its surrounding metropolitan area. WiBro is a technology developed in Korea as a mobile broadband wireless technology and will provide customers with enhanced services such as data transmission, media and communications. High-level data users, including those in business and education, will encompass KT’s target WiBro network customers. Experts also foresee some military use.

"The missing element in many next-generation networks is a high-performance application server platform to host value-added services and content,” said Berge Ayvazian, chief strategy officer, Yankee Group and conference chairman of WiMAX World. “With the Sylantro Synergy application feature server, KT is integrating a highly scalable and robust service platform, which has emerged as the leader in hosted voice for WiBRO/WiMAX."

“By passing user acceptance, the Sylantro Synergy platform will now operate on the world’s first WiBro network and support one of the most innovative carrier networks in the world,” said Marco Limena, president and CEO, Sylantro Systems. “Together, KT and Sylantro are providing thousands of customers with enhanced technology and value-added services.”
