AirMagnet has announced a new version of the Laptop Analyzer that natively decodes and analyzes 802.11n Wi-Fi networks. The 7.5 version of Laptop Analyzer, available next month, provides instant visibility into all wireless channels, devices, conversations, speeds, interference issues and the RF spectrum, making it the standard for pre-deployment planning and post-deployment management of 802.11n Wi-Fi networks.

According to the company, Laptop Analyzer is the industry’s premier mobile field tool for troubleshooting enterprise Wi-Fi networks. It helps IT administrators quickly resolve performance problems while automatically detecting security threats and other network vulnerabilities. In addition, the product offers live, interactive network tests, continual Wi-Fi interference analysis, and detailed packet and frame analysis.

Furthermore, with Laptop Analyzer, organizations can set detailed lockdown security policies, access the integrated AirWISE Expert database for detailed alarm explanations, and easily generate a variety of compliance reports.

Features:
- Identifies and classifies all 802.11n capable devices in the network (including differentiating between standards-compliant and pre-standard 802.11n devices).
- Detects hundreds of security and performance threats, attack tools and strategies--including detecting, identifying and physically locating 802.11n rogue devices operating in the environment (which are often invisible to non-802.11n analyzers).
- Classifies and decodes Non-HT (legacy), HT mixed format and HT greenfield format traffic.
- Supported monitoring for 20 MHz and 40 MHz channels.
- Detects and classifies the higher data rates used by 802.11n devices.
- Identifies backward compatibility issues with legacy 802.11a/b/g devices operating in the same environment, that force 802.11n devices to drop to the 20 MHz channel mode and corresponding slower data rates Detecting such issues in a timely manner will maximize performance.
- Provides more than 15 troubleshooting tools--including connectivity testing, throughput measurement, roaming capabilities, etc.--to pinpoint and solve wireless network problems for 802.11a/b/g/n networks.

Laptop Analyzer 7.5 will be available July 16. Existing customers who have an active software support subscription are entitled to a no charge upgrade to the new version.
