Legerity Unveils Industry's Most Integrated VoWi-Fi Handset Chip and Software
At Fall 2005 VON, Legerity Inc. introduced its Le8100 Handset System-on-Chip (SoC) and Wi-Fi Software Package as part of its Le8100 Voice-over-Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) reference design. Designed with integration, economics and the limited power budgets of mobile applications in mind, the Le8100 product bundle minimizes both system complexity and development time by providing a comprehensive VoWi-Fi handset solution.
The Le8100 Handset SoC integrates a single StarCore SC1400 with a multitude of on-chip peripherals and custom analog circuitry, translating into smaller, lighter handsets. Furthermore, when paired with an off-the-shelf Wi-Fi radio module, this single-chip solution yields the market's most integrated and cost-effective VoIP-enabled Wi-Fi handset.
The Wi-Fi Software Package, included in the Le8100 product bundle, assembles the required software modules into a single, complete VoWi-Fi software solution, eliminating the need for complex software development projects. Emphasis was placed upon a modular software design, so customers can quickly modify and validate the software package.
Legerity is sampling the Le8100 to select alpha customers, and production orders will be accepted in Q4 of 2005.
