5G Wireless Solutions Introduces LongRanger Wi-Fi Range Extender Product
5G Wireless Solutions Inc. recently introduced the LongRanger, a new product that helps to extend the effective service range of its wireless broadband base stations to laptops, desktops and PDAs.
The new product helps solve an industrywide problem. While access points and base stations do an effective job of getting a WiFi signal out to a user community, many laptops and PDAs do not produce a strong enough return path signal to get back to the source. The LongRanger not only boosts the range factor, but also increases connection speeds in the process.
The easy-to-install "plug-and-play" unit does not require any special software drivers, functions independently of one's operating system, and does not require a PCI or PCMCIA slot. It provides robust connections in frequency-hostile environments while remaining compliant to the IEEE 802.11b standard, and extends flexible wireless access to a variety of commercial hardware, including industrial equipment, barcode readers, medical scanners, and network cameras.
The LongRanger will be made available in both USB and traditional power source models, and can increase wireless broadband signal strength to more than a mile. Furthermore, since it is 802.11b-compliant, it will work with most manufacturers' access points and base stations. The 5G model will be introduced at the new Dana Point Harbor Wi-Fi network in Southern California and promoted in other distribution channels where immediate connectivity is required for laptops, desktops and PDAs.
