M/A-COM to develop tactical telemetry modules for XM982 Excalibur projectile program
M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a provider of wireless RF, microwave and millimeter-wave components, has signed a development contract with Raytheon Missiles Systems to supply them with tactical telemetry modules (TTM) for the XM982 Excalibur projectile program.
The TTM provides signal conditioning, data encoding, a high-efficiency S-band transmitter and power control functions. With its ability to return onboard sensor and system health information during a projectile's flight, the TTM remains active throughout the life cycle of the projectile. M/A-COM has been engaged in the development of robust data link technologies for harsh environments in the past, including its previous participation in the U.S. Army's Hardened Subminiature Telemetry and Sensor System (HSTSS) Program.
