MIPS Architecture Enables Numerous Products

MIPS Technologies, provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores, is basking in the aftermath of numerous successful unveilings at the 2011 International CES. These include the first MIPS-based smart phones and tablets, digital cameras, 3D televisions, HDTVs, Blu-ray and other over-the-top media players, digital photo frames, and a wide range of home entertainment and networking products. In terms of mobile and portable products, the company demonstrated two smart phones and several tablets that employ systems-on-a-chip from MIPS licensees including Actions Semiconductor and Ingenic Semiconductor. Also on display were MIPS-based automotive audio/video/navigation systems including an on-dash navigation unit in production from Thinkware, an on-dash navigation unit from Fine Digital, and the SFR Hubster, a 4-in. Internet access device with touchscreen, weather, news, television, and radio.
