MIPS Processor IP Powers LTE SoCs
The latest Long Term Evolution (LTE) system-on-a-chip (SoC) from 4G chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. is powered by MIPS industry-standard processors from architecture provider MIPS Technologies. Groomed for smart phones and tablets, the SQN3110 SoC is Sequans’ second-generation LTE baseband chip integrating dual MIPS32 24Kc processor cores. Fabricated on an advanced 40-nm process technology, the SQN3110 SoC achieves LTE CAT4 data throughput with ultra-low power consumption, according to the company. Compared to previous generation LTE chips, the SoC also features higher data throughput, 3GPP Release-9 support, and significantly lower power consumption.
