Mobile DRAM Breaks $2 Billion Mark
As per the creative researchers at IHS iSuppli, the mobile DRAM market logged revenues passing the $2 billion point by the end of this year’s first quarter. The company uses this figure as an indication of escalating mobile-platform growth. Findings show that global revenue for the devices hit $2.07 billion during the first three months of 2011, a figure 10% above 2010’s fourth-quarter figure of $1.88 billion. Mobile DRAM finds its primary employment in mobile apps as well as other consumer electronics. Ryan Chien, researcher for memory and storage at iSuppli, claims, “As mobile devices consume more memory to carry out an ever-expanding range of highly sophisticated tasks, shipments of mobile DRAM likewise are set for outstanding growth. Unit shipments and densities will increase sharply during the coming years.” Perhaps we should watch developments in world economics and see if this proves true. For more info, go to
