Deal Enables Mobile WiMAX Basestation Products
SOLiD Technologies, a wireless technology and solutions provider in Korea, will use the WiMAX Forum certified SQN2130 from Sequans Communications to build Mobile WiMAX basestation products for the Korean market. SOLiDFemto is a femtocell solution for home users, and SOLiDPico is a picocell solution for corporate and in-building users. Sequans also provides the SQN2130-CBS reference design for pico basestations and the SQN2131-CBS reference design for femto basestations.
According to Sequans, the flexible and scalable SQN2130 ASIC enables the manufacture of cost-effective Mobile WiMAX basestations of any size—femto, pico, micro, and macro. It integrates the physical layer (PHY) and media access controller (MAC) and delivers high-throughput, flexible time-division duplexing (TDD) or frequency-division duplexing (FDD), standard interfaces to access service node (ASN) gateways. It can serve thousands of simultaneous users as well.
SOLiDPico and SOLiDFemto allow service providers to extend service coverage and capacity by connecting standard mobile devices to an operator’s network through an ASN gateway or broadband access network. Both fully comply with the WiMAX Forum Mobile WiMAX (MIMO), NWG profile C/B. Also, both support Service Provider Working Group (SPWG) requirements such as self-organizing network (SON), conditional access (open/closed), and remote management.
