Murata UWB module obtains TELEC approval
WiQuest Communications Inc. has announced that WiQuest and its partner, Murata, have successfully gained TELEC approval of UWB modules based on WiQuest silicon. TELEC provides technical regulations conformity certification for wireless technologies in the Japanese market. TELEC granted this approval on April 18.
The solution, which includes an embedded module and associated DWA, conforms to TELEC regulations for UWB systems. The TELEC certification provides the assurance that solutions based on WiQuest silicon can be approved for operation in Japan in the 4.2 GHz to 4.8 GHz frequency band.
“With TELEC approval achieved, product availability in Japan based on WiQuest silicon is now imminent,” said Dr. Matthew B. Shoemake, WiQuest founder, CEO and president. “Coupled with the passing of multiple FCC certifications, WiMedia PHY registration, and WHQL unclassified driver tests, WiQuest’s is the most complete ultrawideband solution available on the market.”
The newly approved platform uses WiQuest’s award-winning WQST110/101 chipset. The WQST110/101 is based on the Certified Wireless USB specification from the USB Implementers Forum and the WiMedia common radio platform.
WiQuest reference designs based on the WQST110/101 chipset include the Wireless USB adapter, 4-port hub and half mini card reference designs, all based on the Certified Wireless USB technology from the USB Implementers Forum. WiQuest’s WQST110/101 chipset is the industry’s fastest at 1 Gbps data rate.
