An upgrade for the San Diego Naval Base power monitoring and control system
Telvent GIT S.A., with headquarters in Madrid, Spain has been awarded a contract by Williams Electric Company to supply a replacement supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) master station and upgraded remote terminal units for the U.S. Navy Base in San Diego. The new system will monitor and control power provided to all base facilities and to all the ships in port.
The installation will be based on Telvent's OASyS DNA distributed, open-architecture platform and includes SCADA, historical archiving and web services. According to Manuel Sanchez Ortega, Telvent chairman and chief executive officer, this system upgrade will reduce annual operating expenditures and improve quality of service for the base facilities. The system is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2005.
