Octasic Provides Echo Cancellation For ZTE 3G Basestations
ZTE Corp. has selected Octasic’s OCT6100 devices to provide echo cancellation and VQE in ZTE’s high-density BSCs for GSM networks. The OCT6100 includes TFO, also known as Vocoder bypass. The 3GPP standards group has specified TFO to help improve voice quality in mobile-to-mobile calls.
The technology enhances quality by allowing voice to cross the network without unnecessary decoding and coding. Octasic provides support for TFO with its echo-cancellation solutions for 2G and 3G systems. The company’s carrier-grade echo cancellation and VQE solutions reduce system costs by offering excellent area density and low power consumption.
With the recent consolidation of the six largest telecommunications companies in China into three, there is accelerated pressure to deploy FMC solutions to reduce costs. Preserving existing network equipment is necessary to reduce capital expenditures during the transition. As a result, solutions such as ZTE’s iBSC and BSCplus architectures provide the flexibility and integration required to make this transition cost-effective.
