Spare parts order supports U.S. Army's Firefinder radars

ThalesRaytheonSystems has been awarded a $66 million contract to supply spare parts for the U.S. Army's AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder weapon-locating radars. The contract will provide the spare part support to increase radar readiness for these weapons-locating radars deployed worldwide.

The AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-37 radar sets detect and track enemy mortars, artillery and rocket launchers enabling friendly forces to engage the hostile targets. The TPQ-36 radar is designed specifically to counter medium-range enemy weapon systems out to a range of 24 km. Whereas the TPQ-37 can locate longer-range systems, including surface-launched missiles, out to 50 km.

The Firefinder contract provides for 3,500 deliverable spare parts covering more than 100 part types for both versions of the radars. Deliveries will begin this month and continue through April 2008.
