High-performing 100 MHz oscilloscope series unveiled

Agilent Technologies has introduced four 100 MHz portable digital storage and mixed-signal oscilloscopes (DSOs/MSOs) that are said to exhibit the highest performance capabilities in the industry. With a real-time sample rate of 2 GSa/s on each channel and a display update rate up to 40 times faster than competing models, the Agilent 6000 series can display critical events in complex waveforms, thereby dramatically reducing design verification and debug time.

These additions to the 6000 series also introduce Agilent's first 4+16-channel MSO in the 100 MHz bandwidth product sector. The instruments feature waveform viewing and measurement insight for eight- and 16-bit embedded system designers in the aerospace/defense, communications and consumer electronics industries.

Exceptional viewing is achieved with Agilent's MegaZoom III display technology. It provides users with real-time, high-resolution XGA waveform display with 256 levels of color-intensity grades and a memory depth up to a full eight million points--said to be 800 times more than competing models. The dynamic range in the Z-axis also exhibits excellent waveform-display quality.

The 6000 series MSOs provide the seamless integration of scope and logic-timing channels for time-aligned viewing and triggering across any and all input channels. Customers can order either a 2+16-channel or 4+16-channel MSO for their 100 MHz applications. Those ordering a 6000 series DSO can easily upgrade to an MSO configuration later. With the addition of Agilent's FPGA dynamic probe, embedded systems developers using Xilinx FPGAs in their digital hardware designs acquire the ability to see inside their FPGA and correlate this internal view with events in their system identified by the analog and digital waveforms displayed by the MSO scope.

Prices range from $4595 to $7595; customer-installable memory upgrades and DSO-to-MSO upgrade kits are also available.
