U.S. Army awards $151 million Patriot engineering services contract
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command has awarded a $151 million contract to Raytheon Company to provide engineering services support for the Patriot air and missile defense program.
The award to Raytheon's Integrated Defense Systems Division provides funding for the first of four, one-year options, building upon last year's base award. In particular, the contract funds the integration of several hardware and software improvements developed by separately funded programs. The contract also calls for engineering services tasks to be performed in support of foreign military customers associated with the Patriot program.
Work will be performed at Raytheon's Integrated Air Defense Centers in Andover, Mass., and Huntsville, Ala.; its Missile Defense Center in Woburn, Mass.; its headquarters in Tewksbury, Mass.; and additional Raytheon facilities in Bedford and Burlington, Mass.; El Paso, Texas, and Saudi Arabia. Patriot is the cornerstone of the U.S. Army's integrated air defense systems. It provides long-range, all-weather, air defense capability to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft. Raytheon Company is the prime contractor for the Patriot system and the system integrator for the Configuration 3 system that includes the PAC-3 missile.
