U.S. Air Force awards network-centric performance assessment contract

Article Tools

OPNET Technologies has been awarded the U.S. Air Force's Snap-Shot Network Assessment and Capability Analysis (SS-NACA) project by NCI Information Systems under its Network-Centric Solutions Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) prime contract. OPNET will perform the SS-NACA project at 27 Air Force bases over the next three years.

The purpose of the SS-NACA project is to assess network and application performance using OPNET commercial-off-the-shelf software and best practice methodologies, enabling the Air Force to quantify the return on investment of the Information Transport System (ITS) upgrade program. The SS-NACA project will measure and document the benefits of an Air Force base ITS upgrade — both planned and realized — for warfighter and mission support personnel. These personnel rely on network-centric technologies and applications to accomplish critical operations support functions on a daily basis.

The SS-NACA project is expected to make an important contribution to the success of the ITS upgrade program at Air Force bases around the world, providing quantifiable benefits and improved network and application performance.
