picoChip appoints vice president of North American sales
Further expanding its sales operations in the United States, United Kingdom's start-up picoChip has appointed Tom McQuade as the company's vice president of North American Sales. McQuade will be responsible for the development of picoChip's business activities in North America and to drive market penetration for the company's growing WiMAX base station solutions. He will report directly to John Graham, vice president, Worldwide Sales, at picoChip. He brings experience from successful start-ups and big companies.
McQuade brings to picoChip more than 20 years sales and management experience in the semiconductor industry in the United States and other global territories. He joins picoChip from Globespan where he was director of strategic accounts and responsible for sales in California. Prior to Globespan, McQuade was vice president, Worldwide Sales, at T.square, a start-up that was acquired by Globespan. He also held senior sales positions at Brooktree and Toshiba America, Inc.
According to picoChip, the company's latest second-generation processor, the PC102 picoArray, has achieved design wins with major companies developing wireless infrastructure. Additionally, the company also delivers complete, standards-compliant reference designs for UMTS (including HSDPA) and WiMAX.
