Digital signal processor to assist in upgrade of MK-48 wire-guided, thermal torpedo
Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems has awarded a $5.5 million order to Radstone Technology for digital signal processors for Phase 9 of the MK-48 Advanced Capability (ADCAP)/Advanced Common Torpedo (ACOT) upgrade program. Located in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England; Radstone Technology will supply digital signal processors that will help the MK-48's designers achieve advances in guidance, control speed and memory and reduce significantly radiated noise.
The MK-48 ADCAP, a wire-guided thermal torpedo is the U.S. Navy's principal submarine-launched torpedo.
The ADCAP/ACOT program team comprises the Naval Undersea Warfare Center of Portsmouth, Rhode Island and Raytheon's Integrated Defense Systems division.
