Longevity program adds new processors for high-end embedded designs
AMD has expanded its AMD64 longevity program for high-end embedded solutions that guarantees processor availability for at least five years.
The new program includes two additional low-power AMD64 processors based on AMD's successful mobile products. These processors have been requested by embedded customers whose product plans require low-power, 32-bit and 64-bit high-performance capability, a small footprint on the board, and a low pin count.
The AMD64 longevity program enables customers designing high-end, embedded products such as network, storage, blade and telecommunications servers to be assured of processor availability for at least five years. These markets have lengthy design and qualification cycles and longer life spans than typical mainstream computing products. All products offered under the AMD64 longevity program are identical in form, fit and function to their standard roadmap counterparts.
The AMD64-based products with extended longevity are expected to become available to high-end, embedded customers beginning in the fourth quarter of 2005. Whereas, the AMD64-based value product is available immediately for high-end embedded designs such as test equipment, audio applications, single board computers and other custom designs.
