License-exempt high-speed RF link

The Communications Research Centre (CRC) announces a wireless link technology operating in the 5.2 and 5.8 GHz Bands. The WEB terminal is a wireless Ethernet IEEE 802.3X compatible bridge capable of providing links over distances of up to six km at data rates of 32 Mbp/s. The terminal is based on the DVB satellite ETS 300-421 modulation standard. Link speeds of 90 Mb/s are achievable using off-of-the-shelf DVBS technology. Using adaptive antenna and other beam-forming techniques, the system capacity is significantly increased, making the 5.2/5.8 GHz spectrum an alternative to LMDS and MMDS solutions.
