Microsoft and MIPS Technologies Form Vendor Alliance for MIPS-based Designs and Windows CE.NET
Redmond, Wash. — Microsoft Corp. and MIPS Technologies Inc. announced the formation of an alliance of silicon vendors to advance the MIPS architecture and the Microsoft Windows CE.NET operating system.

In a joint release announcing the formation of the alliance, the companies say that as a result of the alliance, companies such as Toshiba have dedicated engineering and marketing resources to optimize the Windows CE .NET platform for the MIPS32 and MIPS64 architectures.
