Ultra-high stability oscillators
MTI-Milliren Technologies introduces a new OCXO product series. The 270 series double-oven OCXO drops into a standard European CO-08 footprint and is available with an output frequency between 4.8 and 90 MHz. Using a full-size TO-8 quartz resonator, the oscillator performs to the stability required for Stratum II and IIIe, GPS, and TDMA PCS applications. Specifications include thermal stability performance of 2.0 superscript -10 to -5.0 superscript -09 over a -30ø C to +70ø C ambient temperature range and steady-state power consumption of 1.7 W from a nominal +12 VDC supply at 25ø C. Typical RF output is +9 dBm ñ2 dB sinewave (into a 50 W load) with < -30 dBc harmonics and -80 dBc spurious levels. Short-term stability at 1 sec is 2 superscript -12. Typical 5 MHz aging performance is 1 superscript -10 per day and 3 superscript -08 per year. The 270 series delivers -100 dBc/Hz at a 1 Hz offset and -155 dBc/Hz at a 10 kHz offset for a 5 MHz unit. The electrical tuning range for a 5 MHz SC-cut third-overtone oscillator is specified as ñ4 x 10 superscript -007 to ñ8 x 10 superscript -007.
