VCOs for telemetry and broadband applications

Z Communications introduces a VCO aimed at the broadband fixed wireless market. The V940ME02 covers the 5,220 to 5,420 MHz within 4 VDC of tuning voltage. Designed for applications such as UNII band wireless systems, microwave radios and satellite systems, the unit features a frequency range of 2,270 to 2,330 MHz within 0.7 to 4.2 VDC, phase noise of -98 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz, 5 VDC operation at 15 mA and second harmonic suppression of -20 dB. The device is operational within the temperature range of -40 to 85øC and exhibits a footprint of 0.5" x 0.5" x 0.13." Also new from Z Communications is the CLV1000A VCO for applications in the telemetry industry. The device generates frequencies between 988 and 1,001 MHz within a control range of 0.5 to 2.5 VDC, making it applicable for integration into PLLs where the error voltage can be taken directly from the charge pump. It features a spectral signal of -116 dBc/Hz, typically, at 10 kHz offset. The device operates from a 3 VDC supply with a typical current draw of 15 mA. The device offers a nominal output power level of -2.25 dBm into a 50 W load with second harmonic suppression of better than -18 dBc. Additionally, it offers an average linear tuning sensitivity of 17 MHz/V while pushing less that 1 MHz/V with a 5% change in supply voltage and pulling less than 1 MHz with a 14 dB return loss, any phase.
