Smart Phones Will Command More DRAM In 2015
If IHS iSuppli analysts are correct, smart-phone designers will be cramming more dynamic random access memory (DRAM) into their designs, in the realm of 700% more by year 2015. Shipments of DRAM for use in smart phones, as per the research firm, are on the road to triple-digit growth this year, passing the entire DRAM market by a factor of three. DRAM shipments in smart-phone handsets, in 1-Gbit units, are expected to rise to 1.7 billion in 2011, up 157.2% from 672.0 million in 2010. By 2015, shipments will increase to 13.9 billion units, up 700% percent from 2011.
