Sprint Clears Telit CDMA M2M Module For Network Use

Article Tools

The CC864-DUAL, a CDMA dual-band cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communications module from Telit Wireless Solutions Inc., has been approved for Sprint’s national 3G wireless network. With this certification, Telit M2M users can now gain Sprint coverage and use their M2M applications on the system. The device is the first designed for the North American market, says Telit.

Sprint has been an early leader in their support of M2M applications and is a valuable partner for the growth of Telit’s CDMA product line in North America,” said Michael Ueland, the VP and general manager of Telit. “We are excited about working with Sprint to further expand the development of innovative M2M applications.”

In using several cellular networks, the CC864-DUAL, like its GSM/GPRS and UMTS/HSDPA partners (GC864 and UC864), allows integrators and OEMS to exchange modules while limiting expensive redesigns, says Telit. With the global coverage and flexibility of one design supporting GSM/GPRS, UMTS/HSDPA, and CDMA-1xRTT, M2M application developers only have to create an app one time, according to Telit.

Telit also believes that the CC864-DUAL’s compact design and operating temperature range of -30°C to 80°C works well with medium-volume to high-volume M2M applications, mobile data, and computing devices. Applications in mobile environments such as telematics, personal and asset tracking, over-the-air maintenance, and management of software can also benefit from the CC864-DUAL’s gpsOne feature, says the company.
