The only 1-µF surface-mount MIL-PRF-123 capacitor on the market
Kemet has introduced what it says is the only 50 V, 1-µF surface-mount capacitor on the market that is qualified to MIL-PRF-123. It was developed in response to the Department of Defense's need for higher capacitance in SMD ceramic capacitors that meet space-level requirements.
To meet the DoD program requirements, Kemet completed MIL-PRF-123 qualification, that included 4000 hours of life testing at twice-rated voltage at 125 degrees C. The company also developed and qualified plated 70/30 Sn/Pb terminations for reduced dimensions when compared to hot solder-dipped terminations. The M123A13 is available in both plated and hot solder-dipped tin-lead termination options.
Kemet is also expanding its MIL-PRF-123 through-hole line of products in response to DSSC's recent extension of available values in the military specification.
The molded radial through-hole expansions offer improved capacitance values and higher voltages.
During the last six months, Kemet has launched MIL-PRF-49470 ceramic stacked capacitors, introduced a new Sn/Pb plated surface-mount termination for military performance space-level and established-reliability capacitors, extended capacitance and voltage ranges on its M123 through-hole capacitors and introduced four first-to-market SMD ceramic M123 capacitors.
