Touchscreen Numbers For 2010 Look Good
Hot on the trail of any trends in the displays market, the folks at DisplaySearch state that the worldwide touchscreen industry is set to exhibit more than 30% year-to-year growth in 2010. The company’s report includes shipment and revenue data for the first half of 2010 and estimates for the second half of the year for 32 established touchscreen suppliers. Quite the trend in research reporting tactics, DisplaySearch downplays economic realities. As per Jennifer Colegrove, vice president of emerging display technologies for DisplaySearch, “Despite the worldwide economic downturn and sluggish recovery in 2010, total touch-panel shipments had almost 30% growth in 2009, and this segment is on track for healthy growth again in 2010. Penetration of touchscreens in medium and large-size electronic devices such as mini-note/slate PCs and gaming is rapidly increasing in second half of 2010.” We shall see, hopefully.
