Laptops, notebooks, smart phones, and even some tablet computers are all pretty passé these days. But now, Trimble’s Yuma tablet computer is different (see the figure). This versatile and rugged device runs Microsoft Windows 7 Professional to bring full office capabilities to the field. Add to that a full set of connectivity functions, and you have a computer that’s ideal for use in the construction, survey, public safety, forestry, scientific research, natural resources, and other industries worldwide.

It meets stringent MIL-STD-810F military standards for drops, vibration, and humidity as well. With an IP67 rating, it’s completely sealed against dust and can survive immersion in up to a meter of water for approximately 30 minutes. And, it can operate in temperatures from –30°C to 60°C.
