WCDMA Platform Fortifies Galaxy Xcover Smart Phone

The PXA968, Marvell’s Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) single-chip solution, now drives Samsung’s Galaxy Xcover (GT-S5690) smart phone. The GT-S5690 is waterproof to a depth of 1 meter for a maximum of 30 minutes. It also complies with IP67. Specs include the 800-MHz Marvell PXA968 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, HSDPA 7.2/HSUPA 5.76, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth v3.0+ HS, a 3.65-in. HVGA thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD screen, and a 3-Mpixel auto-focus camera with LED flash. The Marvell PXA968 platform includes the PXA968 800-MHz and 1-GHz chip set, which supports WCDMA, HSPA, and GSM/EDGE processing and 720p encoding/decoding of multimedia content. The platform also includes PM8607 integrated audio and power management and RF830 WCDMA RF transceiver devices.
