Microchip Technology integrates Wi-Fi modules acquired from Roving Networks into its modular Explorer development systems supporting all 8-, 16-, and 32-bit PIC microcontrollers (MCUs). The RN-131 and RN-171 daughter boards integrate a TCP/IP stack and employ the PICtail serial interface to connect with any PIC MCU. Fully certified, RN-171 and RN-131 modules include a true 802.11 b/g radio, baseband processor, and networking features. No external processor drivers are necessary, and their on-board-stack approach forecasts reduced integration time and low power consumption: 4 ľA in sleep mode, 35 mA in receive mode, and 120 mA in transmit mode. Single-unit prices for the RN-131 and RN-171 are $44.95 and $39.95, respectively. For more, go to www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1406&dDocName=en559511.
