ALK’s CoPilot Live Is Now Available to Android Market Users
Article Text: ALK Technologies’ CoPilot Live, a satellite navigation system, is accessible for Android-based mobile phones. This turn-by-turn navigation can now be downloaded from Android Market for products such as HTC Magic, HTC Dream, and HTC Hero.
With real-time travel information and GPS navigation technology for the platform, Android users can take advantage of voice-guided turn instructions and 3D maps, according to ALK.
CoPilot features digital street maps stored on the phone, instead of on the Internet, which is similar to products based on Windows Mobile and Symbian. It is also possible to download new map regions to the mobile, says ALK.
Characteristics such as current traffic alerts, a five-day weather forecast, and a location-sharing device named CoPilot LiveLink are available through the Internet as CoPilot ‘Live’ services. ALK states that its other services include scrolling menus and maps with touchscreen gesture recognition, clear voice instructions with multiple voices, a widescreen portrait or landscape mode, the LiveLink location-sharing option, phone integration with points of interest (POIs), and safety camera alerts.
For the price of $34.99, CoPilot Live can be downloaded from Android Market.
