iPhone, iPod App Locates Hotspots
The Wi-Fi Locator application, which helps iPhone and iPod Touch users in the U.K. to easily locate hotspots, is now available on the iTunes AppStore. The software, from Coderus, uses maps and the device’s location services to simplify the process. The application also makes authenticating onto the hotspot a one-touch action. The company plans to make Wi-Fi Locator available in other countries in the coming months.
Wi-Fi Locator works with all the popular hotspots for the iPhone and iPod Touch: BT Openzone, Orange, T-Mobile, the Cloud, iBahn, and more. The company is constantly updating the database so users will always know where to find the best connections. Coderus says the application can extend battery life by switching Wi-Fi on and off as needed. Users will always be up to date with synchronizing with the Coderus servers for new location and configuration updates.
