Enhancements to Stoke’s Mobile Data Offload (MDO) application plus a new ecosystem foresee operators improving mobile data service delivery efficiencies. Introduced a bit over a year ago, the application’s latest enhancements enable a set of core-bound applications to be deployed with greater effectiveness at the edge of the radio access network. This edge deployment location combined with control plane information not available in the network core is affording app providers more opportunities for innovation. As an example, in lab trials combining MDO with a collocated content distribution network edge server, mobile-user Web site load time latencies were reduced by 60%.
