Yougetitback has enhanced its Mobile SuperHero application with a geo-location capability to aid in tracking and recovering misplaced, lost, or stolen valuables. The online service protects and helps recover mobile devices—such as smart phones, laptops, PDAs, iPods, cameras, and more—while protecting the sensitive information they contain. The company launched its Mobile SuperHero software as a service in North America in July for smart phones.

The enhanced Mobile SuperHero can determine the actual physical location of a lost or stolen mobile device equipped with GPS or running the BlackBerry operating system 4.2 and above or the Symbian operating system S60 second and third editions. Many devices without GPS can be tracked via their proximity to individual wireless-network cell sites. The software supports more than 70% of smart-phone devices globally.

Mobile SuperHero lets users lock their lost or stolen devices remotely once they notice their devices are missing. Once devices are locked, finders or thieves cannot access owners’ personal information or messages and cannot make calls. With the new geo-location feature, users can lock their devices remotely if Mobile SuperHero tracks the devices to areas beyond those the users have designated for them.

Geo-location protection continues even if the device’s SIM card and telephone number are changed. Yougetitback can identify the new phone number, which also can aid in tracking the finder or thief.
