Fujitsu has selected the TrueTouch Gen4 touchscreen solution from Cypress Semiconductor to implement the touchscreen in the Arrows V F-04E smart phone from NTT DOCOMO. The Arrows V F-04E, which uses Android and operates on the 4G LTE network, uses the Gen4 solution’s leading signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to deliver highly responsive and accurate multitouch performance in any operating environment, according to Cypress. Gen4 also provides industry-leading waterproofing capability, enabling accurate touch input and finger tracking in the presence of moisture from rain, condensation, or sweat, the company says.

The Arrows V F-04E has a quad-core CPU and 2 Gbytes of RAM to process information at 4G LTE speeds of up to 100 Mbits/s. Its 4.7-in. HD display offers precise tracking of up to 10 fingers with the Gen4 controller. Also, TrueTouch’s Charger Armor enables mobile phones to operate in the presence of very noisy chargers. TrueTouch’s built-in waterproofing enables the Gen4 family to meet IP-67 standards without extra sealants or shield layers.

The Gen4 family was designed from the ground up to deliver leading SNR in real-world applications, Cypress says. The Gen4 touchscreen controller delivers 10-V Tx along with the Cypress proprietary Tx-Boost multi-phase Tx solution for the highest in-application SNR in the industry, the company says. Combined with TrueTouch’s Charger Armor display noise cancellation algorithms, Gen4 leads the field in the presence of noise, according to the company. It supports display-integrated designs as well.

TrueTouch provides true single-layer sensor support, 1-mm passive stylus support, and hover capability in addition to Charger Armor. In addition, it boasts strong noise immunity and patented capacitive sensing technology that enables flawless operation in noisy RF and LCD environments, Cypress says.
