Wireless communication networks developer Wireless Facilities Inc. (WFI) has announced that the Logistics and RFID sector of its government division has been awarded blanket purchase agreements to provide radio frequency identification (RFID) readers to enable and accelerate implementation of passive RFID technology in support of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
"This is the first phase of a long-term initiative to implement RFID technology throughout the DoD's supply chain," stated Steve Roth, President of WFI Government Services. "Given our in-house RFID expertise and open architecture, our multiple vendor approach to RFID solutions, and our longstanding relationships with various DoD agencies, we are well positioned to continue to grow our federal RFID business."
The RFID technology, available through WFI, meets all of the DoD's requirements in the fixed reader category. The contracts authorizing DoD agencies to purchase from WFI were awarded by the Army Contracting Agency Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center (ITEC4)
