The Wolfson Microelectronics WM8325-00C power-management IC (PMIC) supports Freescale Semiconductor’s i.MX53 application processors, which are designed for the tablet market.

The i.MX535 incorporates a 1-GHz ARM Cortex A8 core, 1080p HD video decode and 720p video decode, two dedicated graphics cores, and multiple display and connectivity options. With the WM8325-00C, it’s optimized for high performance and low power consumption.

The WM8325-00C power-management subsystem operates as a system PMIC supporting ARM-based processors, as well as most application and mobile processors at the heart of a wide range of low-power consumer multimedia applications, Wolfson says.

The chip also is designed to reduce time-to-market, as the one-time programmable (OTP) memory can accommodate changing application needs. The OTP memory has been specifically tailored to meet the i.MX535’s power-management requirements.
