Samsung And Symbian INNOV8 Another Cell Phone
Samsung Electronics announced today the release of its eighth mobile phone with a Symbian Limited OS. The Samsung INNOV8 runs on the Symbian OS v9.3, which according to Symbian, gives the INNOV8 best-in-class power efficiency, platform security, and phone performance.
Features provided by this OS include demand paging, which is said to shorten startup time for apps and provides advanced memory management, resulting in more responsive apps and phone features. INNOV8 packs the S60 application library, which allows users to watch videos (including DivX files), view photos, or play 3D games on the 2.8” LCD display. The mobile also has an 8 megapixel camera, Internet browsing, GPS, and geo-tagging. The INNOV8 also has an optional 8- or 16-GB internal memory.
The Samsung INNOV8 will be available in Europe starting this August. Availability in the U.S. has yet to be announced. Samsung launched the other seven mobiles with Symbian systems between 2007 and 2008. The Samsung i400, i450, i458, i520, i550, and i560 all carry versions of the Symbian OS and are currently on the market.
