GPS Module Integrates LNA And FBAR Filter

Earlier this week, Avago Technologies announced the availability of its next-generation Global Positioning System (GPS) low-noise amplifier (LNA) with integrated film-bulk-acoustic-resonator (FBAR) filter. The model ALM-1612 LNA/filter module is suitable for GPS handset, in-vehicle navigation, and antenna positioning markets. It features an amplifier noise figure of 0.9 dB, amplifier gain of 18 dB, third-order intercept point of +2 dBm, and cellular and PCS-band signal rejection of better than 65 dB. The amplifier and filter combination is designed for the 15.75-GHz band and requires typical bias of 6 mA at +2.7 VDC. The ALM-1612 provides a CMOS-compatible shutdown pin to turn the LNA on/off or to adjust the variable current. A built-in shunt indicator at the RF input pin of the LNA enhances its electrostatic-discharge (ESD) protection. It is housed in a 3.3 x 2.1 x 1.0 mm MCOB package. Pricing starts at $1.31 for 10,000 piece orders.
